Annual Covered Dish Dinner on Dawson Creek

Tonight we enjoyed another fabulous gathering at the Halls' home -- perfect, glorious weather,
wonderful food, fun games, great conversations and fellowship.
What an exceptional evening!
We all stayed until it began to grow dark.

Many thanks to the Halls for their wonderful hospitality!

Fellowship Pot-Luck Supper

Tonight is our monthly fellowship supper.

This time ... it's Italian night!

Bring an Italian dish, or really any dish you like,

and join us!

Adam is baking foccacia and slow-cooking

Italian sausage, peppers, and onions.

Afterward we play a game or two and laugh until the sunset tells us

it's time to drive home.

You are very welcome to come!

The Seder Supper at Last!

We've waited four years to celebrate the Seder together again! What a delightful, meaningful evening it was. The readings and history, the Scripture, the various dishes and dippings. We learned which bread Jesus passed to his disciples, and which of the four cups was the cup He passed to them also -- the cup for Elijah that had not been drunk at the Passover for hundreds of years. The prophet had come; the Messiah was here! Hallelujah!

Resurrection Day is almost here.

He is risen; He is risen indeed!

Chili Cook-Out!

Our church family enjoyed a wonderful time of outdoor fellowship on Dawson Creek in October.
The weather was perfect. We enjoyed visitors and mostly sat and visited.

And a Happy Birthday wish for Debbie too!

Some of our church members are essential workers with very busy lives right now. They enjoyed a relaxing few hours with good friends.

We shared several pots of delicious homemade chili, a variety of cornbread recipes, and great desserts!

Many thanks to Tommy and Mary for inviting us to their yard for the evening!

Church Picnic by Dawson Creek!

On Saturday afternoon and evening, our church members enjoyed each other's company at last -- outdoors in a good breeze with plenty of room to "social distance." We're thankful to the Halls for inviting us to their place on Dawson Creek. We brought our own chairs and spread out, but were able to relax and catch up and see each other.
Couples played "corn hole" on opposing teams.

Shep waited for any dropped snacks.

Lots of space to spread out!

Shep made lots of new friends.
We hope to do this again in the fall, when temperatures are cooler. It was a perfect day. Since we can't eat together inside the church right now, we're so thankful to have this picnic event!

Fellowshipping in the Home

Our September fellowship supper group was a small one, so one couple in our church offered to have the meal in their home, instead of at the church. What a wonderful idea!

Their home is on a creek, and the views from the dock were serene at twilight.

We enjoyed visiting on the deck before dinner.
After a delightful meal around their table -- lasagna, mac/cheese, breadsticks, chicken tetrazzini and other delicious dishes -- we gathered on the deck again as darkness fell.
These are the simple times of fellowship, especially in a small church, that make us more like family and less like a group of people who just happen to see each other for an hour on Sunday. These times are real fellowship.

Another small but mighty group is our Ladies' Bible Study, which meets on Monday afternoons at one lady's home. We had eight (out of nine) of us there on Monday to start off our autumn study, so we took a "selfie"!
Our conversations are honest about the spiritual topics that matter so much to us, that are on our minds as we age, matters about family that are important to us as women. This is a great bunch of ladies, and we are so thankful for each other!

A Wonderful Seder Supper

Tonight our church enjoyed a Seder Supper -- a Jewish and Christian meal, and a celebration of freedom and redemption in Jesus. Adam led the meal, and everyone responded in the liturgical readings. Twenty participants filled the large square table.
Pastor Adam made the unleavened matzo, the sweet charoset, and the bitter herbs (horseradish). Nadine contributed her beautiful hand-thrown pottery for our use for the evening.
Everyone had programs to follow the readings during the Seder meal.

The readings focused on the faithfulness of God to save His people, our freedom from bondage, and our thankfulness for God's redemption and goodness. The Seder reminds God's people of all He has done, and encourages us not to forget, and to be thankful.
Many thanks go Pastor Adam for all his hard work in preparing this evening for us.
