Advent Begins

This Sunday begins the season of Advent when we anticipate the birth of the promised Savior, Jesus. Church members place poinsettias in the church each year during December in memory or honor of loved ones, or in honor of the Lord.

Our Lessons and Carols Service will be on Sunday, December 20th, at 6:00 p.m. We ask that you wear a mask while inside our building, and maintain social distancing. We hope you'll join us!

"There shall a star come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel, with might destroying princes and cities. How bright the star of morning gleams, so Jesus sheddeth glorious beams of light and consolation. Thy Word, O Lord, radiance darting, truth imparting, gives salvation. Thine be praise and adoration!"

Chili Cook-Out!

Our church family enjoyed a wonderful time of outdoor fellowship on Dawson Creek in October.
The weather was perfect. We enjoyed visitors and mostly sat and visited.

And a Happy Birthday wish for Debbie too!

Some of our church members are essential workers with very busy lives right now. They enjoyed a relaxing few hours with good friends.

We shared several pots of delicious homemade chili, a variety of cornbread recipes, and great desserts!

Many thanks to Tommy and Mary for inviting us to their yard for the evening!

Caring Worship

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we ask that everyone wear a mask or face covering while inside our building. Please ensure that it fully covers both the nose and the mouth. We provide hand sanitizer as you enter the sanctuary, and the offering plate is there as well. Please observe social distancing as you choose a seat for worship. Sunday school is at 10:00 am, and worship is at 11:00. Tuesday evening Bible study is at 7:00 pm.

We strive to maintain the worship of our Lord while still demonstrating wisdom and care for one another. Thank you for your compliance with these requests. We understand that some congregants are comfortable with these worship habits, and others still feel safer at home.

Our Outdoor Space

So much beautiful care has been taken with the garden beds around the church this spring and summer! The church has never looked prettier.
More annual flowers were planted in the sign bed.
The perennial flowers on either side look so lovely this year.
A pretty picket fence now hides the septic equipment.
The recently added red maple tree looks so nice in its pebble bed.
More pebbles were placed around
the tiny rose bush near the side entrance.
Dick Baker's memorial garden is well-kept now and mulched.
The remaining beds around the front of the church are tidy, mulched, and have both perennial shrubs added last year, and newer annuals for color.
The black trim has been an amazing addition!

Many thanks to the folks in our church who have given so many hours to do this work. We appreciate you!

Church Picnic by Dawson Creek!

On Saturday afternoon and evening, our church members enjoyed each other's company at last -- outdoors in a good breeze with plenty of room to "social distance." We're thankful to the Halls for inviting us to their place on Dawson Creek. We brought our own chairs and spread out, but were able to relax and catch up and see each other.
Couples played "corn hole" on opposing teams.

Shep waited for any dropped snacks.

Lots of space to spread out!

Shep made lots of new friends.
We hope to do this again in the fall, when temperatures are cooler. It was a perfect day. Since we can't eat together inside the church right now, we're so thankful to have this picnic event!

Services Cancelled

Our worship services for tomorrow,  May 17, 2020, have been cancelled because Pastor Adam is ill. We thank you for your prayers for his recovery.

Hopefully soon we will be able to resume our two small services that keep our numbers under the governor's recommended limit.

Thank you!

Ah, holy Jesus, how hast Thou offended,
That man to judge Thee hath in hate pretended?
By foes derided, by Thine own rejected,
O most afflicted.

Who was the guilty?
Who brought this upon Thee?
Alas, my treason, Jesus, hath undone Thee.
'Twas I, Lord Jesus, I it was denied Thee:
I crucified Thee.

Lo, the good Shepherd for the sheep is offered:
The slave hath sinned, and the Son hath suffered:
For man's atonement, while he nothing heedeth,
God intercedeth.

For me, kind Jesus, was Thine incarnation,
Thy mortal sorrow, and Thy life's oblation:
Thy death of anguish and Thy bitter passion,
For my salvation.

Therefore, kind Jesus, since I cannot pay Thee,
I do adore Thee, and will ever pray Thee,
Think on Thy pity and Thy love unswerving,
Not my deserving.

Keeping In Touch

Dear church friends ~

During these weeks when we cannot meet together, Pastor Adam has set up two Youtube channels for us. The first is a channel for the church. If you click here, you will find it. It has some familiar hymns and praise songs that Mary Kathryn has recorded for you, plus a message from Adam and a selection of Scripture readings.

The second Youtube channel (please click here) contains short devotionals that Pastor Adam has made - 5 to 10 minutes each. "Questions in Community" is the title of these devotionals, parables and conversations Jesus had during His ministry that encourage us also to ask questions, discuss, and better understand His meaning.

Please listen to these and leave comments under the devotional videos to engage in the conversation. We hope they are helpful as you worship at home and pray!

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on Thee,
because he trusts in Thee."
Isaiah 26:3

Announcement:

Pastor Adam has instructed that all our church's services and activities will be discontinued immediately, until at least April 5, 2020. He will notify the church when services can resume. During this time of uncertainty, continue to reach out and stay in touch, and keep each other in prayer.

"Thy Word Is a Lamp Unto My Feet" ~

"... and a light unto my path."  Psalm 119:105

We are thankful for the generous anonymous gift to our church of this pair of oil-burning candles.
We are reminded of the many passages in God's Word that speak of light. "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden." Matt. 5:14
"For with You is the fountain of life, and in Your light do we see light." Psalm 36:9

Worship Service, March 15, 2020

Pamlico Presbyterian Church will have its regular Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m. We invite anyone in the area whose church is not meeting, to join us. We are a very small congregation and would be happy to have you come -- if you are feeling well. If you are feeling ill, please stay at home during this time. We have hand sanitizer at the church as well.
